How to Set Up a Coupon Timer Countdown / Timed Offers

A coupon timer, or timed offer, creates a sense of urgency for customers, encouraging them to make a purchase before the deal expires. Follow the steps below to set up and customize a countdown timer for your coupons.

1. Create or Edit a Coupon

To add a countdown timer, either create a new coupon or click on the name of an existing coupon that you want to modify.

2. Navigate to the Coupon Design Section

In the coupon setup or edit page, scroll down to the Coupon Design section.
Look for the Countdown Timer option within this section.

3. Enable the Countdown Timer

Toggle on the setting labeled Show countdown timer. This will enable the countdown timer on your coupon, making it visible to customers on the product page.

4. Customize the Countdown Timer

You can customize the appearance and functionality of the countdown timer to match your store’s design and marketing strategy:

Timer Text: Modify the text that appears next to the timer. For example, you can use phrases like “Hurry, offer ends in” or “Limited time only.”
Font Size and Style: Adjust the font size, color, and style to align with your store’s branding.
Position: Decide where you want the timer to appear on the coupon. Common placements include above or below the coupon label text.

5. Set the Timer Duration

In the Timer Duration section, you can specify the exact length of time for the countdown using hours, minutes, and seconds. This flexibility allows you to create precise timed offers, such as “Offer ends in 2 hours and 30 minutes.”

6. Choose When the Timer Starts

You can choose when the countdown timer begins based on customer actions:

Start Timer on First Product Visit: The timer will start counting down as soon as a customer visits the product page for the first time. This setting is ideal for creating urgency as soon as the customer shows interest.
Start Timer When Coupon is Clipped: The timer will only start when the customer clips the coupon. This is useful for situations where you want the countdown to begin only after the customer has engaged with the coupon.

7. Select Timer Behavior for Multiple Products

If your coupon applies to multiple products, you can choose how the timer behaves:

Start Timer for All Products on First Visit: The timer will begin for all products associated with the coupon as soon as a customer visits any one of those products. This setting is useful for site-wide or collection-specific promotions.
Start Timer Individually for Each Product: The timer will only start for the specific product being viewed by the customer. This setting allows for more flexibility and control over individual product promotions.

8. Preview and Save Your Changes

After customizing the timer, check the Preview section in the sidebar to see how it will look on the product page.
Once you’re satisfied with the setup, click Save to apply the changes to your coupon.

9. Test the Coupon Timer

Visit your store’s product page where the coupon is displayed and ensure the countdown timer is visible and functioning as expected.
Check that the timer accurately reflects the time remaining until the coupon expires.

Additional Tips

Create a Sense of Urgency: Use phrases like “Offer expires soon!” to motivate customers to take action quickly.
Match Your Branding: Customize the timer’s colors and styles to maintain a cohesive look on your product pages.
