How to Set Up Lead Capture on Your Coupons
Lead Capture lets you collect customer information, like an email address, before a coupon can be applied. When a customer clips a coupon with Lead Capture enabled, a popup asks for their details first. Once they submit the form, the discount applies and their info is saved as a lead in your Klip dashboard.
This helps you build your email list while still giving shoppers the discount, and it connects directly to Klaviyo, Mailchimp, and Omnisend if you use one of those already.

Part 1: Enable Lead Capture on a Coupon
1. Create or Edit a Coupon
In your Klip Dashboard, create a new coupon or open an existing one to edit it.
2. Go to the Coupon Design Step
Coupons are built in three steps: Coupon Info, Eligibility & Targeting, and Coupon Design. Click Coupon Design.
3. Select Lead Capture
In the Customize Style sidebar on the left, click Lead Capture (marked with a New tag).

4. Require Form Submission to Claim the Coupon
Check Require form submission to claim coupon. This is what triggers the popup. If it's unchecked, the coupon applies normally and no form is shown.
5. Choose a Popup Template
Klip includes six popup styles: Clean, Minimal, Dark, Warm, Bold, and Soft. Click one to select it. The preview updates right away.

6. Choose the Fields to Collect
Under Fields to Collect, pick what you want from customers:
- Email address, included and required by default
- Free text, for open-ended input
- Phone number, useful if you also run SMS campaigns
For each field you can mark it required or optional, edit the field label and placeholder text, and drag it (using the handle icon) to reorder it in the popup.
Click Add custom field if you need something beyond these three.

7. Customize the Popup Content
Below Fields to Collect, the Popup Content section lets you edit the heading and supporting text shown in the popup.

8. Save and Publish
Save your coupon once you're done. Leads are only collected once the coupon is active and published. A coupon still in draft won't show the popup to customers.
Part 2: Configure Global Lead Capture Settings
Some Lead Capture behavior applies across all coupons and lives in your app settings, not the coupon builder.
1. Open Email and Leads Settings
From your Klip Dashboard, go to Settings, then Email and Leads.

2. Customize Form Error Messages
Edit the wording shown to customers when something goes wrong in the popup:
- Email required
- Invalid email
- Invalid phone number
- Required field missing
- Terms not accepted
Useful if you want the messages to match your store's tone, or need them in a different language.

3. How Duplicate Leads Are Handled
If a customer submits the same email through a lead capture form more than once, Klip treats it as one lead rather than creating a duplicate. It updates the existing lead profile with the new capture event and lets the coupon apply, with no error shown to the customer.
4. Connect a Lead Destination
To sync captured leads to your email marketing platform automatically, connect one of the following under Lead Destination:
- Klaviyo
- Mailchimp Email & SMS
- Omnisend Email Marketing & SMS
Click Connect next to the platform you use and follow the prompts to authorize it. New leads sync automatically after that.

Part 3: View and Manage Collected Leads
Every email, name, and phone number collected through your coupon popups is stored in one place.
1. Open the Leads Page
From your Klip Dashboard sidebar, click Leads.

2. Review Your Lead Metrics
At the top of the page you'll see four stats for the selected date range:
- Leads collected, total leads captured
- Redeemed, how many of those leads went on to redeem the coupon
- Conversion rate, the percentage of leads that redeemed
- Lead revenue, total revenue from orders tied to captured leads
Use the date range and All coupons filters at the top to narrow this down.

3. Browse the Leads Table
The table lists each lead's email, name, phone number, the coupon tied to the form, the date, whether they've redeemed, and whether they've synced to a connected platform.
4. Export Your Leads
Click Export leads in the top right to download your list. Useful for a manual import into a platform that isn't directly integrated, or for keeping an offline backup.
