How to Show Purchase Requirement Alerts on the Cart Page for Minimum Spend or Quantity Coupons

The Purchase Requirement Alert on the Cart Page helps customers see how close they are to qualifying for a discount. When paired with a coupon that includes a Minimum Spend or Minimum Quantity requirement, this feature helps increase average cart value and reduce confusion at checkout.

What Is the Purchase Requirement Alert?

The Purchase Requirement Alert appears automatically on the Cart Page when a coupon includes a Minimum Spend or Minimum Quantity condition. It displays a message showing how much more is needed to qualify, or confirms when the requirement is met.

Merchants who want to provide an even clearer experience for customers can enable the Purchase Requirement Progress Bar, which visually shows how close shoppers are to meeting the requirement in real time. This optional feature helps encourage larger cart sizes and makes the discount more engaging.

How to Enable the Cart Page Alert

To show the alert on the cart page:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click on Cart Page
  3. Enable Show Purchase Requirement Alert on Cart Page

Setting Up Minimum Spend or Quantity Requirements for Coupons

To trigger the Cart Page Alert, your coupon must include either a Minimum Spend or a Minimum Quantity requirement. You can only select one condition per coupon.

1. Create or Edit a Coupon

  • Open the Klip Dashboard
  • Create a new coupon or click to edit an existing one

2. Open the Eligibility Section

  • Scroll to the Eligibility & Target section
  • Look for the Eligibility Settings

3. Choose a Minimum Requirement Type

You will see three options displayed as selector buttons:

  • Minimum purchase amount ($)
  • Minimum quantity of items

Choose either Minimum purchase amount or Minimum quantity of items

4. Set the Requirement Value

Once you’ve selected a condition, an input field will appear right below:

  • For Minimum purchase amount, enter the cart total required (e.g. $50)
  • For Minimum quantity, enter the number of items required (e.g. 3)

Choose a value that fits your promotion goal — whether it’s increasing the order value or encouraging larger product bundles.

5. Apply the Condition to the Cart or Selected Products

After entering the value, you’ll choose how the condition is applied:

  • Entire Cart – Applies the requirement across the whole cart
  • Selected Products – Applies only to specific items that you define

6. Customize the Purchase Requirement Alert (Optional)

You can personalize the alert that appears on the cart page to keep your brand consistent and guide customers toward meeting the coupon conditions.

How to Access the Alert Settings:

There are two ways to access the Purchase Requirement Alert customization panel:

Option 1: From the Coupon Design Tab (Top Navigation)
  • In the coupon editor, click on the Coupon Design tab next to Eligibility & Target
  • Scroll down to the Purchase Requirement Alert section

Option 2: From Within the Coupon Flow (When a Minimum is Set)
  • After selecting a minimum requirement (Spend or Quantity), the Coupon Design section will appear directly underneath
  • Click it to expand the customization settings for the alert

What You Can Customize:
  • Progress Text – Shown when the customer hasn’t yet met the condition (e.g. “Spend $10 more to unlock your discount”)
  • Success Text – Displayed once the requirement is fulfilled (e.g. “You’ve unlocked the coupon!”)
  • Styling Options – Adjust the background color, text color, and border to match your store’s branding

Progress Bar:
  • Show Progress Bar: Enable a visual indicator to show remaining minimum purchase requirements.
  • Background Color: Set the background color of the progress bar container.
  • Progress Bar Fill Color: Choose the color for the filled portion.
  • Container Settings: Adjust paddingborder radiusbackground color, and border style to match your store’s branding.

💡 If you’d like a more visual way to show progress, you can enable the optional Purchase Requirement Progress Bar, which provides a dynamic bar that fills as the customer adds items or increases their cart total.

7. Save the Coupon Settings

  • Click Save to apply the changes. The coupon will now only be valid if the conditions are met.
